As an Engineering Manager on our Enterprise Ticketing Team, you’ll combine strong technical expertise with people leadership to guide a team of engineers building core ticketing services used by millions of event-goers each year. You’ll set the technical vision, coach engineers, ensure operational excellence, and align execution with company goals.
This role balances hands-on technical leadership with strategic impact and people development.

AS AN ENGINEERING MANAGER, YOU WILL:
Take ownership of team decisions and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Drive accountability through metrics (engineering quality, velocity, and OKRs) to measure and improve team performance.
Mentor engineers in an open, empathetic, and flexible manner.
Develop redundancy and backfill ability across the team through intentional mentoring.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the team’s domain and its impact on the business.
Partner with product to provide roadmap feedback and optimize product/technical design.
Lead and influence cross-team initiatives to ensure alignment on major goals.
Ensure accountability for commitments and deliverables across the team.
Coach engineers on executing successfully for results and overcoming obstacles.
Make responsible, resourceful decisions to improve team performance without waiting for direction.
Apply creative problem-solving to resolve complex technical and organizational challenges.
Manage day-to-day team operations, providing clear upward communication on progress and challenges.
Translate company-wide administrative decisions into actionable steps for the team.
Ensure accuracy, reliability, and scalability in all aspects of the team’s work.
Drive continuous improvement in development practices, testing, deployment, and support.
Set and communicate team goals that align with broader company objectives.
Lead technical design reviews for core enterprise ticketing systems (payments, inventory, reporting, authentication, etc.).
Collaborate with Product, Design, and SRE/DevOps to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.
Support engineers’ professional development through mentoring, coaching, and performance feedback.
Maintain a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and operational excellence.
Ensure best practices in code quality, testing, security, and operational excellence.
Write and review code where appropriate, modeling high standards for the team.
Foster and support a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation, continuous learning, and the thoughtful adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) tools.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
3+ years of engineering management experience, with proven ability to lead high-performing teams.
Strong technical background (PHP, Node.js, React, AWS, or comparable enterprise-scale stack).
Experience designing, delivering, and maintaining highly available customer-facing systems.
Strong organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience with enterprise-scale transaction systems (ticketing, e-commerce, fintech, etc.).
Familiarity with distributed system design, caching, and database performance tuning.
Demonstrated ability to balance long-term technical strategy with short-term delivery.
Familiarity with GenAI platforms (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, LangChain) and a track record of applying them responsibly to accelerate development and testing.

OFFICE INFORMATION:
Leap Event Technology is a 100% remote-friendly company. However, we do offer the option of working in the office for employees located in Montréal (CAN), Dallas (U.S.), Sydney (AUS). All of our offices are stocked with snacks and drinks and we provide a free lunch every week. We offer a monthly travel stipend, and even host the occasional themed party and happy hour!
If you don’t live near an office but happen to be visiting nearby, you can work from the office for as long as you need.

Leap Event Technology requires all Event Operations employees and contractors who will be representing the company at a client event to be fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to attending. Exemptions are determined by the event organizer. Employees are not required to be fully vaccinated to be present at an office facility.
